Joan Mellum, Certified Wellness Coach, Certified Nutritional Consultant, and Certified Personal Trainer, offers several GROUP WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGES at Flex Fitness.  It’s a great way to learn about healthy eating, exercise and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Ambers Experience:
“For the past two years, I told myself that I deserved a break from exercising, having been on the swim team almost year round all through high school.    But during those years off, I found myself gaining weight and feeling less proud of myself.  So, I decided to do the weight loss challenge to get myself back on track (having some competition really helps me).  As I started the challenge, I found myself looking forward to going to the gym and lifting.  It took me awhile to get into the lifting but I feel stronger, and I enjoy it so much. I work at a pool so before I started, I didn’t enjoy getting in my suit every Saturday, but now I feel like I’m becoming stronger and  more physically fit.  I find myself walking around the pool with my head up and my shoulders back,  and to me that’s the most important gift I gave myself through this challenge!

Mary Jo’s Experience:
(Mary Jo):  I was so glad I joined the challenge!  It really gave me the incentive I needed to commit myself to losing weight.  I’ve always known what it took to lose weight but like everything else in life, you must have refresher courses!  Joan was so instrumental and so inspiring.  She really cares about her “job”.  I also have to put a lot of credit in the “pump it up” classes.  I’m still amazed what a difference eight short weeks can do for your figure!
(Sharon): I learned so much during the bikini challenge.  I thought I knew everything there was to know about nutrition and weight loss, but Joan taught me a lot! Joan has much to teach and the motivation I got from the group was great.  I thought that just because I’m almost 50 that it was too late to start weight training. I was proven wrong! If you really want to lose weight and get in shape, try a weight loss challenge - you’ll surprise yourself!
